So those who know me will understand that I am just as much obsessed with design as I am music. In fact, it’s a passion that I personally could never get off the ground, besides banging some drums and plucking some guitar strings… oh trying REALLY hard to be a DJ… but I digress. =p

The Art Behind Diablo: Chris Metzen

So here we are, one week away from the biggest release in gaming over last 10 years and my gaming-geek-o-meter is topped off at 11. However, with all the talk about the game, it’s only right to give credit to the man who single-handedly birthed the very the story and design enjoyed by millions today. His roles behind the world run deeper than anyone currently employed at Blizzard.

His tenure with Blizzard has brought him everything from voice work, animations, and incredible artwork that sent chills down my 13 year old spine way back in 1996. The incredible attention to details in his work was just awe-inspiring and perfect. With the help of Bill Roper, they created a world that has lasted a decade and set itself to become a classic for generations to come. The artist Metzen is known as “Thundergod”, and he lives up to that name. A true geek at heart.

Now enough gushing, here’s some of my favorites pieces he produced.
